The Two Faces of Oprah Winfrey
What a witch. First she calls in to Larry King to support James Frey and now, bending to public pressure and wanting to look good in the press, she reverses course and is now being critical of the author of A Million Little Pieces. She was quoted as saying, "I feel duped." Bullshit. Oprah, you just wanted to have your cake and eat it too. You neither support nor oppose James Frey and all you really want is to be put in the best possible light by the press.
Sickening but typical behavior from a celebrity.

I think it takes an honest person to change their mind when they realize they're wrong, and to go back to the public and admit it. She could just change the facts of the story and then say she never was looking for weapons of mass destruction, but wait, that's someone else.
I say props to Oprah for admitting when she's wrong.

Oprah does NOT care about how she looks in the press. She didn't look bad by calling in and supporting him. She just realize she was wrong to support him. And honestly, I think her support of him was defensive because she felt like she had chosen a fake.
Anyway, he deserved it. As did the publisher. In fact, ESPECIALLY the publisher.
I fully support your right to disagree with my opinion of Oprah but the fact remains that she initially endorsed James Frey thinking it to be a shrewd PR move and then retracted her support only after she saw herself becoming the target of bad press.
So I stand by my original comments, Oprah did an about face in order to save face. Case closed!

I love that you're cool with differing opinions, Mr. Viddy. Thank you for that. But I have to ask you: you say she endorsed him thinking it to be a shrewd PR move. How do you know what Oprah was thinking?
